Questions & Answers about Verdwijnt de uitslag niet, dan verdwijnt de jeuk ook niet.
Why is ook niet placed at the very end of the sentence?
Here, ook niet (not either) negates the entire second clause. When ook niet applies to the whole action rather than a specific detail like a time or place, it usually drops to the end of the sentence (the end of the middle field).
Why does the first clause start with the verb Verdwijnt instead of Als de uitslag...?
In Dutch, you can drop the word als (if) to make a conditional sentence. When you do this, you must start the clause with the verb. This verb-first structure automatically means 'If...'.
Why is the word order dan verdwijnt de jeuk instead of dan de jeuk verdwijnt?
The word dan occupies the first position in this main clause. In Dutch, whenever a main clause starts with anything other than the subject, inversion happens: the verb comes second (verdwijnt) and the subject comes third (de jeuk).
