Learn Dutch: Waarom ga je nooit naar de sportschool?

In Dutch questions, adverbs of frequency like nooit (never), vaak (often), or altijd (always) usually come right after the verb and the subject. Here, it follows the verb ga and the subject je. It also naturally comes before the place you are going to (naar de sportschool).

Why is it ga je instead of je gaat?

Because this is a question starting with a question word (Waarom). In Dutch, starting with a question word means the verb and subject swap places. Also, remember a special spelling rule: when je or jij comes directly after the verb, the verb drops the -t at the end. That is why it is ga je and not gaat je.

Why do we use the preposition naar here instead of aan or tot?
