Why is there a de in In de zomer when the English translation is just "In summer"?
In Dutch, seasons almost always use the definite article de (the). So, while English speakers say "in summer" or "in winter", Dutch speakers literally say "in the summer" (in de zomer) and "in the winter" (in de winter).
