Questions & Answers about Imate li nekoliko minuta?
Why does the word for minutes look like the singular form minuta here?
It is actually the genitive plural! The word nekoliko (a few) requires the noun that follows it to be in the genitive case. Because we are talking about multiple minutes, we use the plural. For feminine nouns that end in -a (like minuta), the genitive plural surprisingly also ends in -a.
Could I use malo instead of nekoliko here?
You generally use malo (a little) for uncountable things, so you would say malo vremena (a little time). Because minutes are specific countable items, it is much more natural to use nekoliko (a few / several).
How does the question structure Imate li work? I am used to seeing Da li.
Both are correct ways to ask a yes/no question. You can absolutely say Da li imate..., but starting with the verb and adding the short question particle li right after it (Imate li...) is very common and sounds a bit more standard in Croatian.
Does Imate mean you are talking to multiple people in this sentence?
