Questions & Answers about Ayrıştıracak kâğıtları hazırladım ama delgeç yok.
Why do we use the active form ayrıştıracak instead of the passive ayrıştırılacak?
When using the -AcAk participle to show purpose or utility, Turkish typically uses the active form of the verb. So ayrıştıracak kâğıtlar acts like 'papers for sorting', even though English often translates this with the passive 'papers to be sorted'.
Why does kâğıtları take the accusative suffix -ı?
It is the specific direct object of the verb hazırladım. Since you prepared these specific papers rather than just unspecific 'paper' in general, it requires the definite accusative case.
How is the noun delgeç formed?
It is formed by adding the tool-making suffix -geç to the verb root delmek (to pierce or punch). You might also recognize this suffix in words like süzgeç (strainer, from süzmek).
What is the root of the verb ayrıştırmak?
It comes from the root ayırmak (to separate). It becomes the reciprocal verb ayrışmak (to separate from each other), and then takes the causative suffix -tır to become ayrıştırmak, meaning to sort out or separate into parts.
