Questions & Answers about Eski günleri hatırlayıp kahkaha atıyor olacağız.
Why doesn't hatırlayıp have the future continuous tense ending like atıyor olacağız?
The suffix -ıp connects two verbs that share the same subject and tense, acting like the word ve (and). Because hatırlamak (to remember) and kahkaha atmak (to laugh out loud) are connected by -ıp, the future continuous tense in atıyor olacağız automatically applies to both verbs. It efficiently means we will be remembering and laughing.
Why is the verb atmak (to throw) used here for laughing?
The phrase kahkaha atmak is a common Turkish idiom. While gülmek means to laugh or to smile, kahkaha atmak specifically means to burst into laughter or to laugh out loud. Literally, it translates to throwing a laugh.
Why does günler (days) take the accusative suffix -i to become eski günleri?
The verb hatırlamak (to remember) requires its specific direct object to be in the accusative case. Since the sentence refers to remembering specific old days, the phrase eski günler must take the accusative ending, becoming eski günleri.
How exactly is the future continuous tense built in atıyor olacağız?
