Questions & Answers about Gerginlik yüzünden rekabetçi takımlar birbiriyle boğuşurcasına çalışıyor.
How is the ending built in boğuşurcasına?
This ending means 'as if doing something'. To form it, we first conjugate the verb boğuşmak (to struggle) in the positive aorist tense to get boğuşur. Then we add the converb suffix -casına. Here, it acts as an adverb describing how intensely they work: 'as if struggling'.
Does birbiriyle (with each other) connect to boğuşurcasına or to çalışıyor?
It connects to boğuşurcasına. In Turkish, modifiers come right before the word they describe. They are 'struggling with each other' (birbiriyle boğuşurcasına). If they were 'working with each other', birbiriyle would be right next to çalışıyor—but given the tension, they are clearly not working together collaboratively!
Why use yüzünden instead of için for 'because of'?
Yüzünden specifically carries a negative tone, indicating blame or a bad outcome. Since gerginlik (tension) is a negative cause, yüzünden is the most natural choice here. You would use sayesinde for positive causes ('thanks to'), and için or -den dolayı for neutral statements.
Is the verb boğuşmak related to boğmak (to choke)?
