Questions & Answers about Uçağın havalanacağı yok, beklemekten çıldırmak üzereyiz.
How does Uçağın havalanacağı yok literally break down to mean the plane won't take off?
This uses the lesson's target structure: verb + -(y)AcAK + possessive + yok. Here, havalanmak (to take off) becomes havalanacağı (its future taking off), and yok means 'doesn't exist'. Literally, 'The plane's future taking off does not exist.' Notice that uçak (plane) takes the genitive suffix -ın, linking it to the possessive on the verb to show whose action it is.
Since a plane is an inanimate object, does this structure still mean 'has no intention'?
While this structure translates to 'has no intention of' for people, when applied to inanimate objects or situations like a plane, it means 'it doesn't look like it will' or 'there is no sign of it happening'. So Uçağın havalanacağı yok practically means 'It shows no sign of taking off.'
Why is the ablative suffix -ten attached directly to the infinitive in beklemekten?
The ablative suffix (-dAn / -tAn) often indicates the source or cause of an emotion, action, or state. By adding it directly to the full dictionary form of the verb (beklemek, to wait), it translates as 'from waiting' or 'because of waiting'. The speakers are going crazy as a direct result of the wait.
How do you form the 'about to' meaning in çıldırmak üzereyiz?
