### First-Person Future Mutation (-acağım / -eceğim)

In Turkish, the consonant **k** often softens to **ğ** (yumuşak g) when it is sandwiched between two vowels. This rule is especially important in the future tense when talking about what *I* or *we* will do.

Recall that the base future tense suffixes are **-acak** and **-ecek**. The personal suffixes for "I" (**-ım** / **-im**) and "we" (**-ız** / **-iz**) both start with a vowel. When you attach them, the **k** in the future suffix softens to **ğ**:

- **-acak** + **-ım** → **-acağım** (I will)
- **-ecek** + **-im** → **-eceğim** (I will)
- **-acak** + **-ız** → **-acağız** (We will)
- **-ecek** + **-iz** → **-eceğiz** (We will)

Notice how *yapacak* (will make/do) becomes *yapacağım* (I will make/do).

### Negative Sentences and Financial Vocabulary

This same mutation applies when using a negative verb. The negative suffix (**-ma** / **-me**) comes before the future suffix, but the end of the future suffix still gets trapped between vowels. This gives us **-mayacağım** or **-meyeceğim**.
