In a business setting, upgrading your vocabulary makes you sound much more professional. Rather than using the everyday word for "to do" or "to make" (ทำ), corporate Thai relies on ดำเนินการ (to proceed / to conduct).
Similarly, instead of the everyday word for "to tell" (บอก), use แจ้ง (to inform / to notify).
You will frequently see these paired with other formal verbs. For instance, replace "to talk" with อภิปราย (to discuss) and "to look for" with สรรหา (to recruit).
Corporate Strategy
When talking about high-level business moves like combining businesses, use ควบรวม (to merge). You can place ดำเนินการ in front of it to say a company is "proceeding to merge."
To state that a policy, action, or set of information aligns with the rules, use สอดคล้อง (to comply / to be in accordance with). This is usually followed by กับ (with).
Organizing and Competing
For day-to-day corporate operations, formal verbs continue to replace everyday words. Use จำแนก (to classify) for organizing data or documents.
When competing for business, companies will ประมูล (to bid) in hopes of winning a สัญญา (contract).
Accountability and Advising
Financial and HR tasks also have their own formal vocabulary. You might need someone to ค้ำประกัน (to guarantee / to act as a guarantor) for a loan, or ask the accounting department to แจกแจง (to itemize / to detail) expenses and revenues.
When it comes to personnel, use บรรจุ to mean officially appointing or placing someone into a permanent position.
Finally, higher-ups or consultants don't just "teach" or "tell" you what to do; they ชี้แนะ (to guide / to advise) to ensure everything runs smoothly.
