Questions & Answers about Måste jag ha samma baddräkt som min partner?
Why is baddräkt in the indefinite form here? In English we say 'the same swimsuit' which sounds definite.
In Swedish, the word samma (same) is almost always followed by the indefinite form of the noun. Even though you are talking about a specific swimsuit, you must say samma baddräkt, never samma baddräkten.
Why do we use som here for 'as'?
When you are comparing identical things using samma, the connecting word for 'as' is always som. The fixed pattern you need to remember is samma + [noun] + som.
Would samma change its ending if the noun was an ett-word or plural?
Why is the second verb ha instead of the present tense har?
Måste (must) is a modal verb. In Swedish, just like in English, modal verbs are followed by the infinitive (dictionary) form of the main verb. So you use ha instead of the present tense har.
