Since this lesson teaches us to use "las" with plural nouns, why is it just "fresas" here instead of "las fresas"?
When using verbs like gustar (to like), Spanish requires the definite article (las) because you are talking about all strawberries in general (e.g., Me gustan las fresas). However, with action verbs like comprar (to buy), you are only talking about a partial amount—buying some strawberries. In this case, you leave out the article, just like in English.
Why doesn't the sentence start with "Yo" (I)?
In Spanish, the ending of the verb tells you who is doing the action. Because compro ends in -o, it already means "I buy." You can say Yo compro, but native speakers usually drop the yo unless they want to add special emphasis.
Why do we use "en" here to mean "at"? I thought it meant "in".
The Spanish word en is very versatile and can mean "in," "on," or "at" depending on the context. While English makes a strict difference between being "in" a building or "at" a location, Spanish simply uses en for both.
