Questions & Answers about ¿Te gusta esto?
Why is the verb gusta instead of gustas if I am asking if you like it?
What is the word te doing in this sentence?
Te is the indirect object pronoun for you (informal). It tells us who is receiving the action. In our literal translation Is this pleasing to you?, the word te represents the to you part.
Why use esto instead of este or esta for this?
We use esto when we are referring to an unknown object, a general situation, or something whose gender we haven't identified yet. If you were pointing at a specific masculine noun like a book (el libro), you would use este. For a feminine noun like an apple (la manzana), you would use esta. Since the specific object isn't named here, we use the neuter form esto.
Can I change the word order and put esto at the beginning?
