Why is it del restaurante instead of just de restaurante?
In Spanish, you cannot use an apostrophe "s" to show possession. Instead, you say "the kitchen of the restaurant." When the preposition de (of) meets the masculine article el (the), they always combine into the mandatory contraction del.
Why do we use está instead of es if the kitchen is permanently attached to the restaurant?
