Logremos la igualdad. Hagámoslo hoy.

Questions & Answers about Logremos la igualdad. Hagámoslo hoy.

Why does hagámoslo have an accent mark?
We form "let's" commands using the nosotros form of the present subjunctive. The command for "let's do" is hagamos. When we attach the pronoun lo (it) to the end of a positive command, we add an extra syllable. To keep the spoken stress on the same vowel as the original word (ga), we must add a written accent: hagámoslo.
Why is the pronoun lo attached to the end of hagámoslo, but in other sentences it might come before the verb?
In Spanish, object pronouns like lo must be attached to the end of affirmative (positive) commands. If this were a negative command like "let's not do it today," the pronoun would go directly before the verb: no lo hagamos hoy.
Where does the form logremos come from?
It comes from lograr (to achieve). To say "let's [do something]," we use the nosotros form of the present subjunctive. For -ar verbs like lograr, we drop the -ar and add the opposite ending -emos, giving us logremos.
Is igualdad always feminine?
Yes. In Spanish, nouns ending in -dad (like igualdad, universidad, or verdad) are almost always feminine. This is why we use the feminine article la.
