La marcha empieza mañana. No olvidemos las consignas. ¡Practiquémoslas!

Questions & Answers about La marcha empieza mañana. No olvidemos las consignas. ¡Practiquémoslas!

Why is the pronoun attached to the end of Practiquémoslas?
For affirmative commands (when suggesting we DO something), object pronouns like las must be attached directly to the end of the verb. However, if this were a negative command (like 'Let's not practice them'), the pronoun would have to go before the verb: No las practiquemos.
Why does practicar change to practiquemos with a qu?
This spelling change happens to keep the hard 'k' sound of practicar. First-person plural ('let's') commands use the present subjunctive form. If we just swapped the vowel to an e (practicemos), the c would sound like an 's' before the e. Changing the c to qu fixes this!
Why is there an accent mark on the e in Practiquémoslas?
When you attach a pronoun to the end of a verb, you add an extra syllable to the word. To make sure the natural spoken stress of the verb doesn't shift, you add a written accent mark to the original stressed vowel. Almost all 'let's' commands with an attached pronoun will need a written accent on the a or e of the -amos or -emos ending.
What exactly does consignas mean here?
In the context of a marcha (march or protest), consignas refers to slogans, chants, or mottos. Be aware that in other situations, such as at a train station, a consigna can refer to a luggage storage area or locker.
