Questions & Answers about Nadie sobrevivirá en aquel planeta oscuro si falta el oxígeno.
Why does sobrevivirá have an accent mark at the end?
In the future simple tense, regular verbs add their endings directly to the full infinitive. For the he/she/it form, which also goes with nadie, the ending is -á. This ending always takes an accent mark to show the spoken stress lands on that final syllable.
Why is it aquel planeta oscuro and not aquella planeta oscura since planeta ends in -a?
Planeta is a tricky exception. Even though it ends in -a, it is a masculine noun (el planeta). Because of this, any descriptive words attached to it must also be masculine, which is why we use aquel and oscuro.
Why use aquel for "that" instead of ese?
Why does the sentence say el oxígeno when the English translation just says "oxygen"?
In Spanish, when you talk about a general substance, category, or concept as the subject of a sentence, you almost always need to include the definite article (el, la, los, las). Because oxygen in general is being discussed here, it needs the el.
