Questions & Answers about Bebimos mucha agua en el desfile.
How do we know bebimos is in the past tense?
Why is it mucha agua? I thought water was el agua, which is masculine.
Agua is actually a feminine noun! Because it starts with a stressed "a" sound, Spanish uses the masculine article el in the singular (el agua) so the two "a" sounds don't blend together awkwardly. But since the word itself is still feminine, any adjectives describing it must be feminine too, which is why we use mucha.
Why use en for "at"? Shouldn't we use a?
In English, we often say we are "at" an event, but in Spanish, en is the go-to word for being physically located in, on, or at a place or event. The preposition a is mostly used for movement or direction (like going "to" a place), not for where you already are.
