Why do we use por here instead of porque?
In this sentence, por means "because of" or "due to." We use por because it is followed by a noun (el accidente). You would use porque (because) if you were following it with a whole phrase containing a verb, like porque hay un accidente (because there is an accident).
Why couldn't I use para instead of por?
We use por to explain the cause or reason for something (the accident caused the bus to not arrive). Para is used for goals, purposes, or destinations. If you used para, it would sound like the bus's goal or purpose was the accident!
Why is it llega instead of está llegando if it is happening right now?
