### The Indefinite Article "un"

Like English, Romanian places the indefinite article ("a" or "an") before the noun. For masculine and neuter nouns, use **un**.

Notice how this contrasts with the definite article ("the"), which attaches to the end of the noun as a suffix rather than standing alone.

### Yes, No, and Not

Use **da** (yes) and **nu** (no) to answer questions. 

In Romanian, **nu** does double duty because it also means "not." To make a sentence negative, simply place **nu** right before the verb.

### The Indefinite Article "o"

For feminine nouns, use the indefinite article **o**.

When a feminine noun follows an indefinite article, it stays in its base dictionary form (which usually ends in **-ă** or **-e**). Remember that to say "the", that base ending changes to **-a**.

Compare **o cameră** (a room) with **camera** (the room), and **o ușă** (a door) with **ușa** (the door):

### Putting It Together
