A **garsonieră** is a one-room flat — the classic first home in a Romanian city. Most people live in a *bloc* (apartment building), on the **parter** (ground floor) or on an *etaj*.

### Rooms and furniture

**Livingul** is the modern word for the living room (you already know *sufrageria*). After *în* and *la* the article drops: *în living*, *la parter*. When you need the bathroom in a café, ask for **toaleta**.

### Full and empty

**Plin** (full) is regular. **Gol** (empty) changes its vowel in the feminine and loses its *l* in the masculine plural:

### Paper and dishes

**Hârtia** is paper as a material, and **hârtia igienică** is toilet paper. A **vas** is a pot or a dish; in the plural, **vasele** are *the dishes*.

### Într-un, într-o
