Why are junho and julho not capitalized in this sentence?
In Portuguese, the months of the year are always written with lowercase letters, unless they appear at the very beginning of a sentence.
How do you say 'in' a certain month?
You just use the basic preposition em. To say 'in June', you simply say em junho. You don't need to combine it with any words for 'the' when talking about months.
Why does the sentence start with A nossa instead of just nossa?
In European Portuguese, you usually put the word for 'the' before possessive words like 'my', 'your', or 'our'. Because família is a feminine singular word, we use A before nossa. To an English speaker, it looks like it literally says 'The our family'.
Since a family has lots of people in it, why is the verb mora singular instead of plural?
Even though it represents a group of people, the word família is grammatically just one single thing (a singular noun). Because of this, you must use the singular 'he/she/it' form of the verb morar, which is mora. If you were talking about multiple families, you would say as famílias moram.
