Why is it em março but no hospital when they both use a preposition meaning in or at?
No is a contraction of the preposition em (in/at) and the masculine word for the, o. We use it here because she works at the hospital (no hospital). For months of the year, Portuguese does not use definite articles, so we just use em by itself to say in March.
Why are março and abril written without capital letters?
Unlike in English, months of the year in Portuguese are always written with lowercase letters, unless they are the very first word of a sentence.
What is the mark under the c in março?
That is a cedilla (cedilha). It is used to give the letter c a soft s sound before an a, o, or u. Without it, a c before an o would have a hard k sound.
How do I know if the verb trabalha refers to he or she?
