When discussing the hype around streetwear and sneaker drops, you often need stronger words than just "very" or "a lot." Instead of using an adverb like *muito*, you can attach highly productive prefixes directly to adjectives to create absolute superlatives.

The four most common prefixes for this are **super-**, **hiper-**, **mega-**, and **ultra-**. They function identically to their English counterparts, instantly amplifying the meaning of the adjective.

### Spelling and Hyphens

Generally, these prefixes are attached directly to the adjective to form a single, unbroken word.

However, you must use a hyphen if the adjective begins with an *h*, or if it begins with the exact same letter that the prefix ends with. For example, attaching *mega-* (which ends in *a*) to an adjective like *arrojada* (which begins with *a*) requires a hyphen.

Notice that *super-* ends in an *r*. Because *arrojado* starts with an *a*, they do not share the same connecting letter, so no hyphen is needed when combining the two.
