Czy ten pracownik musi nosić kask na budowie?

Questions & Answers about Czy ten pracownik musi nosić kask na budowie?

I thought nosić meant to carry around, but here it means to wear. Why is that?
In Polish, the verb nosić is used for both carrying things around (multidirectional motion) and wearing clothes or accessories. You can think of wearing a helmet as habitually carrying it on your head.
Why doesn't kask change its ending? Isn't it the direct object of the sentence?
It is the direct object, so it is in the Accusative case. However, because kask is a masculine inanimate noun (a non-living thing), its Accusative form looks exactly the same as its basic dictionary form (Nominative).
Why does budowa (construction site) change to budowie?
The phrase uses the preposition na to show a static location (on the construction site), which triggers the Locative case. For feminine nouns ending in -wa, the ending softens to -wie, turning budowa into budowie.
Why do we use ten before pracownik instead of to?
The word for this has to match the gender of the noun it describes. Since pracownik is a masculine noun, we use the masculine form ten. We would only use to if the noun was neuter, or if we were making a general statement like This is a worker (To jest pracownik).
