Why do we use the full word nessuno before scampo instead of the shorter nessun?
Scampo is a masculine noun that starts with an s + consonant (sc-). Just like you use the definite article lo for these words, you must use the full form nessuno instead of the shortened nessun.
Why is it nessuna speranza? Can it be shortened?
Speranza is a feminine noun, so it takes the feminine form nessuna. It cannot be shortened here because it starts with a consonant. You only drop the -a and add an apostrophe (nessun') before feminine nouns that start with a vowel.
Why is there a non before c'è if we are already using nessuna and nessuno?
Italian requires a double negative when negative words (like nessuno, niente, or mai) come after the verb. Because nessuna speranza and nessuno scampo come after c'è, you must put non before the verb.
