Questions & Answers about Il commesso cercherà il bottone.
Why is there an h in cercherà?
Cercherà is the future tense form of cercare (to look for). Verbs ending in -care and -gare add an h in all forms of the future tense to preserve the hard "c" or "g" sound. Without the h, the letter "c" followed by an "e" would make a soft "ch" sound.
Why isn't there a word for "for" after cercherà?
In English, we say "to look for", but the Italian verb cercare already includes the meaning of "for". It takes a direct object, so you never add a preposition like per after it. You just say cercare followed immediately by the item.
How would I say the assistant will look for "any" button, using the grammar from this lesson?
