A febbraio ci sono ventotto giorni.

From Lesson 51:Months of the year·Italian

Questions & Answers about A febbraio ci sono ventotto giorni.

Why do we use a before febbraio instead of a word that means "in"?
In Italian, you can actually use either a or in before months of the year. Both a febbraio and in febbraio are perfectly correct and commonly used to mean "in February."
Why isn't febbraio capitalized?
Unlike in English, months of the year and days of the week are written in lowercase in Italian, unless they happen to be the very first word of a sentence.
How do you build the number ventotto (twenty-eight)?
It is made by combining venti (twenty) and otto (eight). Because venti ends in a vowel and otto starts with one, you drop the first vowel to make it easier to say. So, venti plus otto becomes ventotto.
Why does the sentence use ci sono instead of c'è?
ci sono means "there are", while c'è means "there is". Because we are talking about twenty-eight days (a plural amount), we must use the plural form ci sono.
