Questions & Answers about В любом случае я приду на встречу.
What does в любом случае mean, and how is it used?
В любом случае literally means “in every case,” but idiomatically it’s “in any case,” “anyway,” or “no matter what.” You use it to introduce a statement that remains true under any circumstances. In Russian, it often precedes the main clause (as here), but you can also move it to the end for emphasis:
Я приду на встречу в любом случае.
Why is встречу in the accusative case with на?
The preposition на when expressing direction or attendance at an event requires the accusative case. Here на встречу means “to the meeting” (destination), so the noun встреча takes the accusative singular form встречу.
Why is the verb приду used here, instead of the imperfective прихожу?
Приду is the 1st person singular perfective form of прийти (to come), emphasizing the completion of the action: “I will come” (and finish the action). The imperfective прихожу would indicate a habitual or ongoing process (“I come / I’m coming” regularly) and doesn’t fit when you’re promising a one-time future arrival.
Could you say я приеду на встречу instead, and what would be the difference?
