What form is studia?
Studia is the third-person singular present indicative form of studiare (to study).
So it can mean:
- he studies
- she studies
- it studies (rare, depending on context)
It can also be the informal imperative (Study!) when speaking to tu, but if the meaning has already been given to you, the context will tell you which one is intended.
Why is there no subject pronoun, like lui or lei?
Italian often omits subject pronouns because the verb ending already shows the person and number.
- studio = I study
- studi = you study
- studia = he/she studies
- studiamo = we study
- studiate = you all study
- studiano = they study
So Studia medicina is perfectly natural without lui/lei.
You would usually add the pronoun only for emphasis, contrast, or clarity.
For example:
- Lei studia medicina. = She studies medicine.
This is more explicit, but often unnecessary.
