The word obwohl (although) is a subordinating conjunction. These types of connecting words always kick the conjugated verb (here, ist) to the very end of their clause.

Why does the second half of the sentence start with geht instead of sie geht?

In German, the verb in a main clause almost always wants to be in the second position. The entire first clause (Obwohl Anna krank ist) acts as the first block of information. To keep the main verb in position two, geht must come immediately after the comma. This creates a common pattern you will see a lot when starting sentences with subordinating conjunctions: verb, comma, verb (ist, geht).

Why is it zur Arbeit instead of just zu Arbeit?

zur is a short way of saying zu der (to the). Arbeit is a feminine noun (die Arbeit). The preposition zu always triggers the dative case, which changes the feminine die into der. German speakers squash zu and der together to make zur.
