Questions & Answers about Wir nehmen diese Verbindung, denn sie ist direkter.
Why is the comparative form direkter without any extra adjective endings?
In German, when an adjective comes after a verb like sein (to be) rather than directly before a noun, it doesn't take extra gender or case endings. To say "more direct", you just take the basic adjective direkt and add the comparative ending -er to get direkter.
Why does the second part of the sentence use the pronoun sie instead of es ("it")?
In German, pronouns must match the gender of the noun they replace. Verbindung (connection) is a feminine noun, so we must use the feminine pronoun sie to refer back to it, even though we translate it as "it" in English.
How do we know that Verbindung is a feminine noun?
A very useful trick to remember is that almost all German nouns ending in -ung are feminine. Because it is feminine, we also use the feminine demonstrative article diese (this) right in front of it.
Why isn't the verb ist pushed to the end of the sentence after denn (because)?
denn is a "position 0" conjunction, meaning it connects two normal sentences without changing their word order. The second part keeps the standard Subject + Verb order (sie ist). If you had used weil (which also means "because"), it would have forced the verb to the very end: ... weil sie direkter ist.
