Questions & Answers about Wir sind fertig, aber habt ihr genug Zeit?
Why do we use sind here?
sind is the plural form of the verb sein (to be) that goes with wir (we). Whenever you want to say "we are", you use wir sind.
Does fertig translate to "ready" or "finished"?
It can mean both! Depending on the context, Wir sind fertig can mean "We are ready" (prepared to do something) or "We are finished" (done with a task).
Who is being addressed with ihr?
ihr is the informal plural "you" (like "you guys" or "y'all"). You use it when speaking to two or more people you would individually call du. In this lesson, we see that the verb haben (to have) changes to habt when paired with ihr.
Why does the second part say habt ihr instead of ihr habt?
Because it is a question. To ask a yes/no question in German, you simply swap the subject and the verb. The statement ihr habt (you have) becomes the question habt ihr (do you have). The word aber (but) just links the two phrases and does not change this rule.
