Ne t'inquiète pas, tout va bien.

Questions & Answers about Ne t'inquiète pas, tout va bien.

Why is it t' instead of toi in ne t'inquiète pas?
In affirmative commands with reflexive verbs, the pronoun comes after the verb and changes to toi (like inquiète-toi). But in negative commands, the pronoun stays before the verb in its normal form. So te becomes t' before the vowel in inquiète, giving us ne t'inquiète pas.
Why doesn't inquiète end with an 's' here?
For regular -er verbs like s'inquiéter, the tu form of the imperative (command) drops the final 's'. So instead of tu t'inquiètes, the command form is just inquiète.
This lesson is about the subjunctive with emotions. Why isn't the subjunctive used in this sentence?
The subjunctive is only triggered when an emotion verb is followed by que and a new subject clause. Here, we just have two separate, independent statements. If you connected an emotion to a second clause with que, you would need the subjunctive. For example: Je m'inquiète que tout aille mal (I am worried that everything is going badly).
Why do we use va instead of est in tout va bien?
In French, general well-being or the state of things is expressed with the verb aller (to go), not être (to be). Just like you say je vais bien (I am well), you say tout va bien (everything is going well, or everything is fine).
