Questions & Answers about L'employé a trouvé l'erreur et l'a corrigée.
Why does corrigée have an extra 'e' at the end, but trouvé doesn't?
This is the main rule for the passé composé with avoir! Normally, the past participle doesn't change, which is why we see a trouvé. But if the direct object comes before the verb, the past participle must agree with it. In the second half, the object is l' (standing for the feminine word l'erreur). Because this pronoun comes before the verb, we add an e to make it corrigée.
What exactly is the l' before a corrigée?
Does the extra 'e' on corrigée change how it is pronounced?
No, it sounds exactly the same as corrigé. The extra e is only a written grammar rule, so you do not need to change your pronunciation at all.
