Why do we use "es d'accord" instead of a single verb for "agree"?
In English, "agree" is an action word (a verb), but in French, you use the phrase être d'accord (literally "to be in agreement"). You have to use the verb être (to be), which is why we say Tu es d'accord rather than just using a single word for agree.
Isn't "idée" a feminine word? Why do we use "mon" instead of "ma"?
Yes, idée is feminine! Normally, you would use ma for feminine words. However, because idée starts with a vowel, saying ma idée forces two vowel sounds together and sounds clunky. To make it flow better, French uses mon before any singular noun that starts with a vowel, even if it is feminine.
This looks like a regular statement. How do we know it is a question?
In everyday spoken French, it is very common to turn a regular statement into a question simply by raising the pitch of your voice at the end, just like we sometimes do in English. You don't always need to swap the word order or add est-ce que.
