Questions & Answers about من باید حقیقت را به قاضی ثابت کنم.
Why is the verb at the end ثابت کنم instead of ثابت میکنم?
Because of the word باید (must). In Farsi, when you use a modal word like باید, the main verb must be in the subjunctive form. Since ثابت کردن (to prove) is a compound verb using کردن (to do), we use the subjunctive form of کردن for the "I" person, which is کنم.
If this is the subjunctive, shouldn't کنم have a بـ (be-) at the beginning, like بکنم?
That is a great observation! The subjunctive usually starts with the prefix بـ (be-). However, with compound verbs like ثابت کردن (to prove), Farsi speakers almost always drop the بـ prefix. So, instead of saying ثابت بکنم, we just say ثابت کنم.
Why is را used after حقیقت?
The word را is the definite direct object marker. Because you are proving "the truth" (a specific, known truth) rather than just "a truth" in general, Farsi requires را immediately after حقیقت to show it is the direct target of your action.
Can I change the word order and put به قاضی before حقیقت را?
Yes, you absolutely can. Farsi word order is quite flexible in the middle of a sentence. Saying من باید به قاضی حقیقت را ثابت کنم is perfectly natural. The main rule is just that the subject () usually goes first and the verb () stays at the very end.
