Questions & Answers about ما میتوانیم هر ماه سفر کنیم.
Why do we use the singular word māh (month) after har instead of making it plural?
In Farsi, the word har (every/each) is always followed by a singular noun. Just like in English where you say 'every month' and not 'every months', you must say har māh without any plural markers.
Why does the verb for travel, safar konim, not have the usual mi- prefix?
Because it follows the modal verb mi-tavānim (we can). In Farsi, when you use a verb like 'can' or 'want' before another verb, the second verb is forced into the subjunctive form. For a compound verb like safar kardan (to travel), you drop the mi- prefix and just attach the personal ending to the kardan part.
Why do both verbs end with -im?
In Farsi, all verbs describing the action must match the subject. Since the subject here is mā (we), both the helper verb mi-tavānim (we can) and the main verb safar konim (travel) must take the 'we' ending -im.
Does the word māh mean 'moon' or 'month'?
It means both! māh is the word for both 'moon' and 'month' in Farsi. You can easily tell which one is meant based on the context of the sentence.
