Questions & Answers about شما باید قبضها را زود پرداخت کنید.
I thought the Present Subjunctive always started with a 'be-' prefix. Why is the verb here just پرداخت کنید instead of پرداخت بکنید?
پرداخت کردن (to pay) is a compound verb made of the noun پرداخت (payment) and the verb کردن (to do). For compound verbs using کردن, Farsi speakers usually drop the بـ (be-) prefix in the subjunctive. So, بکنید (bekonid) simply becomes کنید (konid).
Why doesn't the word باید (must) have a matching ending for شما (you)?
In Farsi, باید is an impersonal modal verb, which means its form never changes. It stays exactly the same no matter who is doing the action! The person acting is shown by the ending on the main verb at the end of the sentence, which is why we use کنید (you do).
Why do we need the word را (râ) after the bills?
The word را (râ) points out a specific direct object. Because the sentence says you must pay the bills (rather than just some general bills), we add را right after قبضها to show they are the specific target of the action.
How does the plural work for the word قبضها (bills)?
The singular word is قبض (qabz), which means bill or receipt. Adding the suffix ـها (-hâ) is the standard and most common way to make nouns plural in Farsi, turning it into قبضها (bills).
