Questions & Answers about شما صبح استراحت می‌کنید و ظهر شروع می‌کنید.

What makes استراحت می‌کنید and شروع می‌کنید compound verbs?
They are made by combining a noun—استراحت (rest) and شروع (start)—with the helper verb کردن (to do). To say "you rest" or "you start" in the present tense, you conjugate only the helper verb part: the prefix می‌ (mi-), the present stem کن (kon), and the ending -ید (-id) for شما (you).
The translation says "in the morning" and "at noon". Where are the words for "in" and "at"?
In Farsi, you don't always need prepositions like "in" or "at" for times of day. You can just use the words صبح (morning) and ظهر (noon) directly in the sentence, and the meaning is naturally understood.
Why is the subject شما (you) only used once, even though there are two verbs?
Because the verbs themselves tell you who is doing the action! Both compound verbs end with -ید (-id), which specifically matches شما. Once the subject is established at the beginning, Farsi speakers drop it for the second verb to avoid repetition.
Should I pronounce و as "va" or "o" here?
While the formal pronunciation is "va", in spoken Farsi, و (and) is almost always pronounced as a quick "o" sound when connecting words or phrases. You will hear "mi-konid o zohr" rather than "mi-konid va zohr".
