The word for "inside" is dâkhel. Like many spatial prepositions in Farsi, it requires the Ezafe vowel (an "e" sound) to link it to the noun that follows it. You pronounce it as dâkhel-e otâgh (inside of the room). Even though the Ezafe isn't typically written in the Farsi script, you must say it!

Why is there a chain of Ezafes when saying "inside the small room"?

In Farsi, adjectives also connect to their nouns using an Ezafe. So, "room" connects to "small" with an "e" sound (otâgh-e kuchek). Combined with the preposition, you get a chain of two linking sounds: dâkhel-e otâgh-e kuchek (inside-of room-of small).

There is no word for "the" in the Farsi sentence. How do we know it means "the vase"?

Farsi doesn't have a direct word for the definite article "the". A noun like goldân can mean "a vase" or "the vase" depending on the context. Since we are asking about a specific location, it naturally translates to "the vase" in English.

Why is the verb ast (is) at the very end of the question?

In Farsi, the main verb almost always goes at the very end of the sentence. While English starts this type of question with the verb ("Is the vase..."), Farsi states the subject and location first, and places the verb ast right at the end.
