We use the Ezafe particle. You must add a short -e sound to the end of the noun to connect it to the adjective. Instead of just saying khiyâbân bozorg, you must say khiyâbân-e bozorg.

Why isn't this connecting -e sound written as a letter in خیابان بزرگ?

In standard written Farsi, short vowels like the -e of the Ezafe are usually left out of the script. You won't see a special letter for it here. Native speakers know to pronounce it automatically when they see a noun modified by an adjective.

Why does بزرگ come after خیابان instead of before it?
