Making proposals (biyâ)

Making Proposals with "Let's"

To suggest an action—like "Let's..." in English—use the imperative form of "to come" followed by the present subjunctive of your main verb (usually in the "we" form).

The imperative of "to come" matches who you are addressing:

  • بیا: for one person (informal).
  • بیایید: for a group or formal address.

Adding Purpose with "So That"

To state the purpose of your proposal, connect it to the intended result using تا (so that). The verb describing the goal after تا must also be in the present subjunctive.

Suggesting Multiple Targets

To tackle multiple items at once, use the structure هم... و هم... (both... and...) to group objects before the main verb.

Compound Verbs

When proposing actions with compound verbs (like هم‌فکری کردن or به اشتراک گذاشتن), the subjunctive changes only apply to the light verb at the end of the phrase.
