In the event that (chenânche)

Hypothetical Scenarios

When giving instructions for specific, hypothetical scenarios—such as troubleshooting technical issues—use the conjunction چنانچه (in the event that / if).

چنانچهchenânche

When setting up a condition that might happen, the verb in the چنانچه clause takes the Present Subjunctive. Because these are usually instructions, the main clause is typically an imperative.

This structure also works smoothly with the verb "to be" (بودن), which takes its regular subjunctive form (باشد).

Using the Simple Past

Alternatively, use the Simple Past in the conditional clause. Even though the scenario is hypothetical or happening in the future, the Simple Past treats the condition as an action that must be completed before the next step.

Combining Complex Instructions

When guiding someone through troubleshooting, you might need to tell them not to do something while performing another action. You can combine a conditional clause with بدون اینکه (without doing X), which also takes the Present Subjunctive.
