Absolute superlatives (-tarin)

The Absolute Superlative

Adding the suffix ترین to an adjective creates a superlative form. While superlatives often compare one thing to all others (meaning "the most"), they can also be used absolutely. An absolute superlative describes an extreme degree or an absolute limit, similar to saying "a most" or "the utmost" in English, without making a direct comparison to anything else.

Remember that superlative adjectives are placed directly before the noun they modify, and no Ezafe is used to link them.

Matchless Qualities

When describing luxury items like a custom-built yacht, absolute superlatives are perfect for highlighting unmatched features. The adjective simply takes ترین to express that a quality is fundamentally supreme.

Multiple Adjectives and Predicates

To emphasize multiple extreme qualities at once, you can link superlative adjectives using و (and). Place the coordinated superlatives before the head noun.

An absolute superlative can also stand alone as the predicate of a sentence, describing the subject without being placed in front of a noun.
