Questions & Answers about Kun je het mij sturen?
Why is the verb Kun instead of Kunt?
When the pronoun je or jij comes right after the verb, which happens in questions, you drop the -t from the verb. So while you would say Jij kunt for a statement, it becomes Kun je for a question.
Why is the order het mij instead of mij het?
In Dutch, when both the direct object like het and the indirect object like mij are pronouns, the direct object comes first. If the direct object was a regular noun, the order would flip, for example: Kun je mij het boek sturen?
Where is the word for to? Can I just use mij for to me?
Yes! When giving, telling, or sending something, you can just use mij as the indirect object to mean to me. You could also say naar mij or aan mij, but simply using mij is very common and natural.
Why is sturen at the very end of the sentence?
This sentence uses a modal verb, kunnen. In Dutch, the conjugated modal verb takes the first position in a yes or no question, and pushes the main action verb, sturen, all the way to the end in its full infinitive form.
