Questions & Answers about Wij verwachten enkele moeilijkheden tijdens dit project.
How do we form the plural moeilijkheden from its singular?
The singular is moeilijkheid (difficulty). Abstract nouns ending in the suffix -heid have an irregular plural: the suffix changes to -heden. Therefore, moeilijkheid becomes moeilijkheden.
Could I use sommige instead of enkele to mean "some difficulties"?
Not naturally in this context. Enkele means "a few" or "a small number of" (similar to een paar). Sommige means "some" in the sense of "certain ones but not others" (e.g., some difficulties are easy, but others are hard). Since you just mean "a few", enkele is the better choice here.
Why does the sentence use dit project instead of deze project?
Because project is a neuter word (het project). In Dutch, singular het words always take dit (this) or dat (that). You only use deze or die for de words or for plural nouns.
Is the verb verwachten (to expect) related to wachten (to wait)?
