Abrir means "to open." It is a fully regular -ir verb in every simple tense, but its past participle is abierto rather than the expected abrido. That irregular participle appears everywhere you need a compound tense — he abierto, ha abierto, había abierto — and also when the participle is used as an adjective: la puerta está abierta.
