Escribir means "to write" and is regular in every tense — except for its past participle, which is escrito instead of the expected escribido. This one irregularity shows up in every compound tense: he escrito ("I have written"), había escrito ("I had written"), and so on.

Apart from the participle, escribir follows the standard -ir pattern shared with vivir and abrir.
