Cubrir means "to cover." It is a regular -ir verb in every simple tense, but — like a small group of other -brir and -crir verbs — it has an irregular past participle: cubierto. This form appears in every compound tense and also functions as an adjective meaning "covered."
Compound verbs built from cubrir follow the same pattern: descubrir ("to discover") → descubierto, encubrir ("to conceal") → encubierto, recubrir ("to coat, to re-cover") → recubierto.

Common Uses
Cubrir means to cover physically, but also to cover expenses, news, or a work shift. The reflexive cubrirse means to cover oneself (with a blanket, from the rain, etc.).
He cubierto muchos partidos como periodista.
I've covered many matches as a journalist.
El cielo está cubierto de nubes.
The sky is covered with clouds.
